Bombing isn't going to do the trick, it never has. We've been bombing Ashkanistan for decades now. <sigh>
It will if Obama isn;t selecting the targets, drop some tactical nuclear bombs and watch the rats scatter.

Japan disagrees.

DOH! ... Ok, sorry,t hat's really not funny, but it is a good comeback. Good point, I'll give you that one. However... their goal was imperialism, not a religious fervor. At least, to my understanding. I'm not a WWII scholar by any means. But your point is taken.

Anyone left in Raqqa is either a terrorist, a terrorist sympathizer or a hostage/human shield. You'll never rescue any hostages alive from there, so the most humane thing to do is wipe it off the map and move on. The same goes for any vehicles leaving Raqqa.

The problem is that the coalition conducting strikes on Raqqa, do not have the operational tempo to do that. Worse yet, the restrictive ROW placed on the U.S. sorties ensures that many of them RTB with all the ordinance they left with. The administration absolutely isn't publishing the number of non-strike sorties they're flying.

What we're doing over there is the epitome of waste, fraud and abuse. Its repugnant. Either do something or leave so someone else will. Pretending to do something is the worst thing we could do. :(

Just an FYI - Raqqa last week....

195610_5_.jpg

Not exactly the kind of scene that results from 10 years of bombing is it?

Notice the arrows too? ISIS Main HQ? Islamic Court?

Why the hell are those not looking as though they were a scene from "planet of the apes" I can't tell you.

I can suggest any strategy "we" have been using is not designed to bring them to their knees....

There are still a few hundred thousand people in Raqqa. They are not all collaborators or sympathizers. Most of them aren't even hostages, they're just dirt poor people who are generationally conditioned to being ruled. They are there because it's where they are...

Carpet bombing the city would do nothing...we would have to encircle it, evacuate it (vetting everyone who leaves) and then clear it house by house.

Some retired Lt. Colonel on the tube said yesterday that ANY of the WWII generals would have already leveled Raqqa. Today they would likely face a war crimes trial.

Today I heard that some oil tanker trucks were hit yesterday by someone other than us, probably France. It was asked why we didn't hit them and it was explained that the drivers were likely civilian. It was ISIS oil...

It's pretty clear what's going on. Either our CIC is a total pussiae or he's complicit.
