I had farm bureau for many years. We were really satisfied with their coverage. Had the bundle package with car/boat/house, etc.

We got a leak in a gasket in the bathroom toilet, resulting in a leak within the house. Carpet baseboards, etc. Less of a claim than a roof.

They paid it and dropped us like a rock. 20 years of no claims.

We live in the country, and its tough to find somebody that will insure further than 2 mi from a hydrant.

USAA took us on, and so far with only one claim, they did not raise the rate, and we are happy.

Got a hydrant in the front yard, fire dept may be volenteer only 2 1/2 miles away. I know older is more but hells bells, (some newer homes I would not touch quality is shite) I'm confident I can do better, just time, I think the want to get rid of me. I will look for higher deducts too.

We go back and forth from Farmers to Travelers every few years after the rates creep up too much. We are with Farmers right now. If the rate gets high I can normally call my agent and make sure that all the discounts and whatnot have been apllied and it will adjust down, if not, I start calling around. I don't think we've stayed with one company for more than 4 years before we find better rates.

I'd probably be pissed if I had any idea what you were talking about. Are you saying 50 is too old to be on this forum?

Then I guess I won't be pissed. The small AARP membership fee allows access to their insurance program which has been a financial lifesaver for me over a several year period, not to mention the new roof I got last year.
