Might be a dumb ? but do you close one eye when you aim?

I had lasik surgery a couple of years ago..I really had a band case of astigmatism...My right eye was set for close viewing while the left for longer distances..I have heard/read that you should shoot with both eyes open. Haven't really tried that yet, but find myself trying to aim with the left eye only...Any feedback?

I shoot eyes open every time. Pistol irons, rifle irons, or scopes.

But if you can't do it, you can't do it. Lots of people have trouble doing this with high power scopes.

since I'm left eye dominant but shoot right handed , I leave both eyes open when shooting pistols but have to close the left one to shoot through a scope on a rifle.

Close one eye you will miss half of whats going on.... I shoot both open.....

Both open. What's the focal length on your dominant eye? I have corrective shooting lenses where the dominant is set at 28" and the non-dominant is set standard. It's weird, but it works.

With iron sights/red dots I have both eyes open. Scoped, left eye closed. It works for me.

One eye closed for target practice. That's the way I learned as a kid, and it works best for me.
