Do you have to buy a special license to hunt public land in OK?

Just the hunting license for the game and season you choose. Then any tags for the game you hope to get.

Not sure if birds are the same, I'm referring to deer.

Other than the above, no. There may be one other one out West, but not sure. Make sure you get a regulations booklet, and study it. ALso make sure you check out the individual rules for the area you want to hunt, usually located near the back of the booklet. Not all lands have the same rules as others, or the State in general.
