My family is wanting to do something along these lines as well at the end of may, except we will have kids, grandparents, etc, etc. I've been checking every link posted, lots of viable options I didn't even know we had that close to us.

My wifes family has been having these all family 4 day weekend getaways now for quite a few years where they rent a big house for everybody- from great gma down to babies. They started out in Arkansas near Little Rock somewhere one early spring to see some flower come up. Now they do it in the last part of spring before summer and the last few years theyve been doing it at Lake Ft Smith State Park, they apparently love the place. From ziplining to water sports and fishing, etc.

Not yet. This is why I plan these little trips.

The best kind of getaway, I cant wait for one of those. No offense to those with kids- I have 3 daughters 21 to 25, a 20 yr old son, a 23 yr old stepdaughter, and the last kid is graduating HS next month. We took our kids on lots of great vacations- but I am looking forward to the next stage in life: just the wife and I trips. Board the dogs while we're gone or have the college kid house sit.

It has been years and years. I take my kids everywhere still. The wife and I planned our vacation together, but then the youngest and his girlfriend asked if they could go. I am cool with that, but I am ready for a trip with just the wife and I. I thought a quick weekend would be nice until we go on vacation. The wife and I do plan on slipping away to Octoberfest in Red River by ourselves, but it will also be more of a long weekend.
Next year we are going to Florida by ourselves. I am already ready for that one.

Just the wife and I.

Secluded, peaceful, cell service is spotty at best.
Hiking, the lake,absolutely beautiful.
