No, I think they "invested" in leasing minerals for oil exploration. It will be a cold day in hell before TX is in bad enough finacial shape to consider selling off to anyone, let alone China.

I think it's odd enough in the beginning that a country we're indebted to is "leasing" our soil. . .I know it happens with a lot of companies when bought by overseas corporations, but generally we're not indebted to them. . .

The federal Gov. is indebted to them...the State of TX is not. Its really no different than you buying a foreign stock and "investing in" say, a Japanese market whether its oil production or samari sword manufacturing.

But there is little power in the sword market these days. There is great power in the oil market. Big difference.

There will never be a collapse. Our gov't is a business in itself. Therefore to understand it, you have to look at it like a business.

The parties represent the share holders, the people make up the parties, and we vote every 2 years for the particular representatives due up then (ie house/senate and president, whatnot... yadda).

Once in power, the respective representatives are trusted to do the bidding of the greater common voice, but what usually happens is they do what is best for themselves with enough common good to earn re-election.

If and whenever a "collapse" should happen, it will never be a true collapse, but merely a "hostile takeover" where a new party or whatnot steps in appealing to the greater common voice, etc...

Other possibilities include the puppeteering of representatives where a foreign legion controls the gov't (though this occurrs to some degree already).

Just my opinion and all, with America being as Capitalistic and all.

But it's not important for ALL the states to stay together. They only had 13 when the Federalist Papers were written. I think we could shed a few and be fine.

Uh...they tried that back in like the mid 1860's...I think it was called the Civil War? That didn't work out so well. "One nation, under God...." remember that part?

Read the Constitution for more background...

I voted Never, mostly because I shudder at the thought of the US falling. But it probably will. There is a major shift coming, MAJOR changes in store for not only the US, but the world. China will be the dominant world power and we let it happen, hell, helped it along. I hope for the revolution that is coming to be peaceful, but even the "peaceful" protests in the '60s got bloody. Maybe I should keep the AR......

Seems to me that it didn't work out so well because it wasn't allowed to. I reckon that's why some called it the War of Northern Aggression. . .

I will give you the fact that SC struck first, but the North did blockade the South as well. . .
