I still don't buy the argument that by OC'ing you make yourself a target and that there's a big chance you'll have your gun stolen and used against you.

If that were true LEOs would be getting gunned down ever day by their own guns that were stolen off their hips. I haven't heard of a cop getting his gun stolen and used against him while standing in line at Quiktrip lately.

And why didn't someone introduce the same damn bill that passed both houses last year? I know there's a similar one, but c'mon.

Well, neither of them were at a Quiktrip but I personally know of two officers who were killed with their own guns.

Trooper Nikki Green, OHP (died December 26. 2003 on a motorist in distress call)

and Officer Gary Lee Ward, OKCPD (died February 2, 1985, working an off-duty security detail at a local Holiday Inn)

Oh, but back to the OP ... I dunno guys ... seems to be that the guy is entitled to his own opinion whatever it may be. There are both pros and cons to the open carry debate. I personally think it is a bad idea. But that doesn't mean I don't understand where some are coming from who support open carry.

Can you show me where this was put forth? I see the right to keep and bear arms, I don't see anything that indicates open carry....

I googled 'conceal carry musket' and came up blank, so I can't answer your question specifically. I do see that 'keep and bear' and 'shall not be infringed'. Does that count?
Where in the 1st Amendment does it mention 'internet' or 'computer'?

I love Heartland Outdoors and I have dealt with Cleo several times and can say he is a nice guy and gave good reasons for his opinion which the originator of this thread failed to mention. It was not Heartland Putdoors position on open carry should be mentioned as well.

I "failed" to mention it because it wasn't relevant to my post. My point was that as a business, I would not personally come out and stand in opposition to an issue that could alienate a good number of my customers whether I had good reason or not. If one of my employees decided to speak to the media without my consent, and give an opinion that could negatively impact my business I would terminate them.

I don't have any opinions about Heartland, they have a right to their opinions as does anyone else. I was not supporting any boycott or offering an opinion on open carry. I just think having an employee who is standing in the store, to tell the media he is opposed to open carry is an incredibly bad decision.

But wait, many here have already crucified Heartland for the statements, and they were wrong?

OH NO, MOB HYSTERIA.....
Why do you think they made the PC statement on their facebook page. This all goes back to my original point of how stupid it was for anyone from Heartland to be offering this opinion on the news. Now they are trying to do damage control.

I don't disagree with you. I just think it would have been much wiser from a business standpoint not to give your opinion on this issue while you're standing in the store.

As for Heartland going out on tv and opposing this bill... That's great, do whatever y'all want. I don't shop there...nor will I ever especially because of this. But if the owner dont like it...who gives a rats ass. I'm sure he's a great guy, and I have nothing personally against him...but I don't agree.

I hope the bill does pass. I will never OC..(who needs to with a comp-tac?) But I would like the legal safety of me accidentally printing my cw. why oppose more options? Will OC harm you in some way, if you don't chose to?

OK if the law is passed it does not say you have to open carry, so why so many against it? If you dont want to carry it out in the open don't do it. I would not open carry but I would not have a problem if others did.

People here are afraid of other people making decisions for themselves.
