It's amazing how technology has advanced and some have no idea of that stuff. I have a coworker who had no idea what a 45 adapter was (not related to guns). We were talking about turntables. He googled it and said he'd never heard of such a thing. It makes a person feel old, and it haven't really been that long.

I'm grinning. You guys really remember rotary phones? Hell, we didn't even GET rotary phones until I was in high school. I saw my first one when I was a little kid and thought it was a toy. I'd never seen a real one with a dial on it. We just picked up the phone and waited for the operator to come on and ask "Number, please," and you told her. Dad's office was two-six. The picture show was three-five-eight. My grandparents had a long one: one-five-six-oh. If you didn't know the number, just tell the operator who you were trying to call. She probably knew the number and could even tell you if anybody was home.

we still have a rotary phone somewhere in the house. My wife used to keep it for power outages. Now that cell phones are common place it is nothing more than a relic.

Now that we have iphones who here remembers the roaming number books early cell providers would give you? Yes this was when mobile phones came in bags.

'Uh, hello, Sarah?"

Great thread! What is a rotary phone anyway?

It's right up there with pop tops on steel beer cans.

Encyclopedia salesmen.

Blackboards.

etc...

Next thing you know kids will be asking what those things that look like handles on garage doors are for?

I admit it, I'm so old, I still get up from the chair to change the channel.

:)

This really doesn't say how hold you are but if you hold an advanced degree. Remember how much of a PITA it was to program early VCRs. Or do you remember going to the Video Store only to find that they did not have the move instock in VHS only Betamax. Someone else already rented the VHS.
