So got the confirmation my ground zero shelter is getting installed Tuesday. I haven't really built an emergency kit to be stored in there. Therefore, I need assistance.

I know a lot of y'all have emergency kits for SHTF situations and so feel free to share your "necessities."

I have a prime membership to amazon and was going to pick up a couple of maglights, battery/crank weather radio, iodine for water, etc. I've been survivalist camping before and have somewhat of an idea.

I need good ideas for sealed container for everything (bug-bomb proof preferably) and additional recommend non-perishable foods, etc.

Strictly in terms of the storm shelter, I keep the following:

35# square kitty litter bucket (cheap and seals reasonably well) containing: 6 bottles of water, 6 ziplock sealed energy bars, first aid kit for bumps and bruises and cuts, leather gloves, spare AA (for magnetic led light stuck to shelter lid and headlamp), spare C batteries for weather-am/fm radio, headlamp, emergency whistle, multi-tool, small roll of tp, and lastly underneath all that, a small amount of kitty litter in a trash bag in case any of the little ones "just can't hold it anymore".

Two USGI wool blankets in vacuum space bag

Above mentioned magnetic led light stuck to lid

weather band-am/fm radio, battery powered

Most of this and a Saiga 12 with mags! In a pinch works better than a crowbar.
