This was taken when The USS Hancock was in the Tonkin Gulf in 1965. I'm the guy on the far right with his elbow hanging on the wing.

Look at you with your sleeve all rolled up! always gonna have someone who flaunts the rules, eh? BTW, whats up with the spent .50 cartridge by the handle? thumbs too short to reach the paddles or something?

LOL! Good thing the pic didn't show my then-unauthorized Merrel's and the hollowpoints in my M9...Doh! Luxuries of being on a JTF field team far from the flag pole.

The spent casing is a field expedient safety, stick it behind the paddles...pops out easy when it's time to wake up momma. Rattling around those so-called roads, it saved me from an ND or two!

(BTW. I love the depth and breadth of experience we all share here. We could run our own country if we needed too. You guys rock.)

^^^^This! Thank all you folks for your service! I never joined the military, I was born into it! My dad was in the Army from before I was born until right before my senior year in high school. Yep...I'm an Army Brat...who used to have a drug problem. I was drug from one place to another the whole time I was growing up, never staying in one place more than 3 years at a time, usually 18 months.

I lived in Germany twice and travelled all over Europe while we were there. Dad was an air traffic controller and was stationed in Graf both times we were there. We always lived on the economy and when we went into town to the post, we always rode our bike the "back way" - through the tank trails where all the REFORGER troops were staying in the field. Everybody hated Graf except those who were stationed there! I went to Jr High in Vilseck and HS in Nurenberg through my junior year.

I feel very blessed to have been the places I have been and seen what I've seen - thanks to the Army! Funny thing - he retired and we moved back to mom's home town of Childress, TX. I graduated with kids that had never been out of the State of Texas - - and Childress is only 30 miles from Hollis, OK!

:patriot: :soldiers:

Heres a little Veterans Day humour you might enjoy...I was talking to one of my co-workers this morning (he is in the Navy Reserves) and he was telling me about his day taking the ASVAB. He says that they are handing their test scores into the Marine SGT. and the two guys in front of him get this response...MArine SGT"well look here at this genius you scored 28" Second recruit hands his in"Congratulations numb nuts you got a whole 29". Co-worker hands in his and Marine SGT says"this is more like it you got 91". My co-worker asks the SGT what the two under achievers will be doing in their military carrers and the SGT replies" someones got to be cannon fodder".
