So I am looking for a good semi-auto duck gun. I have been looking at the Mossberg 935 magnum and the Remington 1187....thoughts? Any better suggestions that won't break the bank?

I have to tell you, I know it's not a semi auto, but every time I go duck hunting I grab my Benelli Super Nova. I beat on that gun and it still goes bang every time. Even fished it out of the bottom of a pond once. Great duck gun that is pretty cheap to boot.

I started with a single shot stevens 20 gauge..That sucked!
Then a pump stevens 12 chambered for 3" and a 28" barrel
Wow what a difference in reach and killing power...This was before steel shot.
Buddy used a mossberg semi auto He took 3 shots at 1 duck I took 1 shot at my duck it fell he was empty i chambered another one and dropped his duck.

A test was in order.(plugs removed)..I could get off 3 rounds with my pump to his 5 from his semi auto.

I have a few 12 gauges one being the old 5 digit serial number A5 browning last 5 digit was 1928
Shoots great but chambered in 2 3/4"....maybe this #2 shot i have will work...

I bet you could get a nice used one like you listed for cheaper than 700..as that is the prices i seen on them.
I paid $150 for my A5,,, guys were trying to jew him down because no blueing on action..He only wanted 150 and it shoots

Bargains are out there..
I do like my pump actions and 3" magnums though

I've had two experiences with the 935's, both were good and both were used while duck hunting the river when it was 4 degrees out. No problems. I've since sold mine, and continue to use my camo 3.5" O/U. 3.5" shells not needed though IMO unless shooting geese.

I bought a 935 for duck hunting a few years back as it turned out to be the biggest POS gun I've ever owned. It broke on me two different times while hunting. Made with cheap plastic parts.
I saved my money and bought a SBE 2 and love it.
