I'm guessing you must know what the mosque population thinks about gays? Right? A gay-only? So you're advocating a separate facility for their use only?

Addressing what the local minority population does, or should do, does not answer the question of how is a majority to protect their beliefs and institutions?

No one is suggesting that all homosexuals ought to conform to religious law and practice; why should civil law force the religious to accept gay life style choices?

If someone wants to open a wedding chapel that only caters to gay people and turns straight people away, I'm okay with that, just like I'm okay if my church does not want to marry gay people.

And yes, I know the Muslims think about gay people. That's not my problem. It was an example given how hostile some people here are to mosques being built near their home or certain landmarks.

If someone really thinks their beliefs and institutions are "threatened" by someone else's beliefs and institutions, they really have other issues. Seriously... if a Christian thinks that gay people getting married in the U.S. threatens to undermine the holiness of marriages of straight people, then they must believe that government rules over religion because they obviously do not believe holy marriage to be a covenant that is only between them and God. They see it as a contract between them, the government, and with God as only a witness and not a party to the marriage.

311, you bring up some good points and they are along the line of what I was getting at in an earlier post. People have gut-feelings about what is ok with them and what is not. It is 100% your right to not be ok with your daughter's choice of boyfriends. I too have a daughter and though she is not dating age, I would probably feel exactly as you do. What I am having a problem with is that, in today's world, people are degraded and shamed for having a viewpoint that they feel is right but others feel they are backwoods and behind the times.

It's just like the whole Duck Dynasty or Chik-Fil-A thing: If someone states their opinion that they don't agree with something, they get labeled as a hater. That's where we are going wrong and the media feeds this problem. So much for tolerance. It is, in fact, evolution by force and that's the part that sucks.

I'm no out front supporter of gay rights and actually wish society would shut up about it truthfully. In the grand scheme of things, I really don't care. But before any adamant pro-gay reader blows (no pun intended) a gasket, I have a gay friend who I love like a sister and I've never seen her happier. She has a HOT girlfriend and they hope to get married at some point. That is their battle to fight and not mine.

Both of my daughters are bi-racial. One daughter even dated a black guy then dumped him for a Puerto rican fella. My oldest daughter was born in spain, shes a citizen of spain.

Ive dated black girls too, even other races. Ive been in the sack with a guy...a couple of times in fact. Ill spare you the details but it was fun. Ive showered naked with guys. Ive compared wankys a few times. Only lost once. So im kinda a champion as well.

So what if ur daughter dates a black guy. Unless the dude does meth n gets stupid or doesnt treat her with respect and dignity who cares. Kids grow up and turn into adults. Adults can love who they want.

Oh, and im not really gay either and everything I said was true (cept the gay part). But id argue or fight to the death for their rights, just as I would for a straight persons rights.
