Just made the jump in June 2013. Miles from the pavement now and loving it! Also have to look at the date/day to figure out if things in town will be open or not.

Retired in 2008. Bought an RV park in 2011 and a boat rental business last year. Work our butts off during the summer, but have our time off during the winter. Anybody down south looking for a part time job give me a shout.

In my case, I can retire now, but at 62, I'll have to rely on my wifes insurance until medicare kicks in.
She hit 40 years in the same job Friday, and is 56. Not sure if she will still have her job much longer as the company got bought out and they have been dumping senior employees.
I don't want to spend the majority of SS payments on insurance.

What do you guys that retired early do for health insurance?

I'm looking to retire at 66 which is 12 loonnngggg years away. :cry3: But on the bright side, if the markets can manage to do well over the next few years I possibly could go early. :w000t:

I joined in 2009 also. Took the boat out to the middle of the lake and dropped the 6:20AM alarm clock into the water. I have not gotten up that early for anything since then. That alarm was a bad start for every work day for me. I have always been a night person, get tired 1 or 2AM, then like to wake up on my own. Been staying busy doing what I want to do and catching up on a lot of projects I should have been doing long ago. I am adapting well to this lifestyle. Kinda miss the weekly pay check, but working around that pretty well.

It is interesting how you can lose track of what day it is. Wife and I get confused every once in a while and miss a day. Makes it hard when you have something scheduled and you have to pull out your phone to find out what day of the week it is. Most time we do not know and really do not care. Everyday feels like Saturday. I highly recommend retirement, and take off that damned wrist watch, you do not need it anymore either, it is easy to tell if it is daytime or nighttime. Eat when you get hungry, sit down when you want to.

20 more years, rule of 90 age plus years of service must equal 90 to receive full retirement benefits. Guess I'l just keep plugging along.

It was the rule of 80 when I was "in" ... Thank GOD GC saved me from that!! Been retired for 5 or 6 years now ... I loose track ... This thread reminds me that I adore my husband in ways most men can only dream of any woman adoring them ...  Yes yes yes ... I KNOW ... :wink2: :rotflmao:
