I don't think i've done anything to make that 'apparent', and my sex doesn't make my opinion on the subject any less valid. Throwing entire genders into the same bucket is a very slippery slope. I don't see saying "You only disagree with my position because you have a penis" as any different than "you only disagree with my opinion because you are *insert race here*". I have a mother, a sister and i've had girlfriends in the past. Just because i don't advocate life in prison for rapists doesn't mean i must lack a vagina. 15-20 years in prison is still 1/4 of the average lifespan. But for these sick individuals, treatment or castration seems more appropriate depending on severity in combination with a long sentence.
And yes, i might feel different(read: biased) if it occurred to me.
You might feel a little different too if someone very close to you was raped. I don't care, if you rape someone you should be put to death. Period. Not castration and certainly no "treatment". These animals don't deserve to be breathing anymore. And our messed up system usually dumps these freaks back onto the streets way too soon. That's the last thing that should Happen. Chemical castration is used for pedophiles as well, and it seems to work somewhat well. Not an emotional argument based on punishment but rather a practical idea, from my point of view.
I also support keeping dangerous criminals off the streets -- who doesn't? but rehabilitation makes more sense than paying to keep them in a prison for the rest of their life for non-murder crimes.
