Why not rehabilitation for murder? Most murders are specific in nature. Most murderers are less likely to commit future murders than a serial rapist is to commit future rapes.

I'd consider it, but murder is permanent. Once your dead, there's no coming back. People survive rape, they don't survive murder. That makes it more dangerous.
If we could rehabilitate murderers, we should. that's not to say they shouldn't spent some serious time in the pokey and be monitored on release.
And I've been about ran off this forum before for my views on criminal justice reform. Get a load of this cat.
Once we release non-violent drug offenders serving multi-year sentences I'll shed a tear for serial rapists.

Poor serial rapist. We should send them to counseling, not jail. I mean, I've never been raped, so I have sympathy. But then again, I'm a loving caring person. It's not like they're killing anyone.
Counselling is a little extreme, they should spend atleast 15-20 years in the pokey. during that time, we can rehabilitate them. and no, not all rapists are murderers.
He would have gotten less than 15-20 years had he only raped one woman. Read the convictions. 13 women guilty on 18 of 36 charges. Arithmetic.

You may not be aware of this, but a frequently used interrogation tactic on subjects of depraved crimes such as rape, pedophilia, child porn, and murder is to ask the suspect what they think should happen to the person guilty of the crime. If they didn't do it, they almost universally call for death, life or a seriously long sentence. If they're guilty, they always say something much less, all the way to "treatment for an illness". When they hear the suspect say that, they know they've got their perp.
So I'm telling you right now that a reasonable person will not even blink at society paying whatever price necessary to lock that evil SOB (Holtzclaw) up for the rest of his natural life. He will never rape another woman again. No doubt, no question. It. Will. Not. Happen.

15-20 years? I'm not even sure it should count if it was the first time. Everybody makes mistakes.
