So you have a problem with the NFA and class III restrictions, and you’d like to this repealed in its entirety??

Are you saying we should be allowed to have any kind of arms we want? Should we also have grenades, claymores, C4, RPG’s, SMAWS, Javelins? ? The right to bear arms is a very basic term, it doesn’t say the right to bare any kind of arms ever invented from now to eternity? nuclear warhead are arms too, should we have the rights to bear them? Just trying to be sensible and realistic...... biological weapons can be considered arms, maybe you think we should had the right to have these as well? You are gonna need a much bigger building once those are available for purchase
I see. You support common sense gun control. Do you also support common sense speech control? The world would be so much more warm and fuzzy if we limited speech to happy words.

So you feel then that as long as YOU don't harm anyone then everything should be allowed (i.e. LAWS, machine guns, claymore mines, tanks, rockets, grenades, anything you can afford) to have and use anywhere and at anytime YOU want with absolutely no restrictions whatsoever? Then welcome to Mogadishu, Somalia or any other war-lord run shiz-hole where anything goes.

Chuckie, you hit upon a point that needs to be made PERFECTLY CLEAR. The Second Amendment only covers keep and bear and does not protect anything about how arms are USED. According to the Second Amendment, government cannot infringe upon your right to keep and bear arms. Government can, however, limit how you use them. A law that says you cannot discharge your guns in the middle of downtown except in self defense does not violate the Second Amendment. A law that says you cannot carry your guns downtown does violate the Second Amendment. Get the picture? Glad to help.

All things considered, we should err on the side of freedom and self determination. Along with that, a return to the good sense of personal, individual responsibility. If you've PROVEN you're incapable of handling those responsibilities in society, only then should they be restricted or rescinded.
If you've PROVEN you're incapable of handling those responsibilities in society, only then should they be restricted or rescinded.
That is the problem in that sometimes by the time it is proven that one is incapable of handling weapons responsibly (if proven at all), those weapons have already been used to kill or wound others.

In an ideal society "we should [be able to] err on the side of freedom and self determination" as you advocate, but we don't live in an ideal society and that has been proven time and time again.

Should we restrict or ban all weapons? Of course not! But some weapons that are not appropriate to hunting, self-protection, or competitive shooting should, perhaps, be restricted on the open market. I mean hey, besides EGO or bragging rights, why would someone need a howitzer or an armed jet fighter? :anyone:

An in fairness the consititution said shall not be infringed so take literally even ex cons should be able to own a gun

I would say yes. If you were arrested and sent to prison in 1825, when you got out, were you OK to own a gun then? I'm pretty sure you were.

As someone pointed out most of these things are legal already. So yes we should be able to own them. So your argument is moot. We are America. This is part of us. And I never said anything about not having laws. Of course we need laws. I’m talking about gun restrictions. They are pointless. It’s just like banning felons form possessing guns. It doesn’t stop them from getting them. And it never will. If they want a gun they’re gonna get one. Just like if a nut wants to kill someone they are gonna do it. Whether by shooting someone, stabbing them, blowing them up, running over them in a bus. The list can go on and on. These bumpfire stocks are everywhere. No way the government can track them. So even if they put them on the NFA list it doesn’t matter. It’s just something for the politicians to pat themselves on the back for.

Well the point I was trying to make is why is this “common sense” gun law that violent ex cons can’t own firearms accepted by most of us but the “common sense” law that not everyone should have access to full autos and RPG’s is not accepted? They are both uncsonstitutional

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
