I have used a tubing cutter a couple of times. Makes a clean cut, and easy to clean up the crown. Naturally this wont work with a ribbed barrel. Wanted to get that in before someone tried to correct me.

This, and it includes the chamber.

You need to at least mark the barrel to get a straight cut. Masking tape wrapped carefully (and straight) around the barrel will work. Follow the edge of the tape (or whatever you use) around with your hacksaw, rather than trying to cut off both sides at once.

A tubing cutter will create a distortion at the opening (both inside and outside the barrel), because it forces metal inward and aside as it's cutting. You can dress these areas down with a file, or you can just use a tubing cutter to mark the barrel or cut it partway, then use a hacksaw.

Just a couple thoughts. :drunk2:
