I see this pick as a political chess move for the upcoming elections. He "moderated" a bit while still staying somewhat conservative (pretty solid on the 2A) so the dims can hang themselves with their protestations. It seems risky, I admit. Last thing we need is another Souter.

I can't help musing about what we would be facing if Hillary were making her second pick......
Clearly, the Ivy league degrees and solid credentials of Brett Kavanaugh were important in his nomination, and give the Democrats ample opportunity to make fools of themselves and alienate the moderates of both parties.
So he is not "perfect" to us old hard cases who consider 2A the best litmus test of anyone. I will definitely take an "A minus" conservative that should pass the Senate (again) and be sitting on the SCOTUS this year over another "Bork" mess at midterms.

Oh make no mistake, they are going to try and make a mess of it. The scuttlebutt is that he has the votes, but how many do they need to turn? I know Collins from Maine and Murkowski from Alaska are kind of iffy and can McCain even last until fall? And if he does how does he vote? He hates Trump enough to throw that thumb down again.

Collins seems to have solidified and Murkowski will follow her. Paul may balk, but I’m betting he will only vote no if there’s a crossover Dem voting yes in order to win re-election.

Someone around here nailed it on the head when they said she'd only leave in a pine box.

Conservatives need to hang onto the Senate and win the next Presidential Election - outlast Ginsberg to solidify the conservative court for the next 25 years.

If this happens, there will be a snowflake meltdown of epic proportions.
