Not much of a yard bird eater, but may have to try the new Popeyes here in town just because I love them fighting back about political correctness.
If we buy chicken out, it’s Charlie’s.
The last time I ate at a Charlie's Chicken was about five years ago in Stillwater. It was nasty!

Their spicy chicken strips are pretty good, but I don't know about better than Charlie's. Of course, it has been quite some time since I ate Charlie's chicken, so it might not be as good as it used to be.

If you're ever in Starkville, MS, don't bother with the Popeye's there. As another customer said, that's about a ghetto Popeye's, and he wasn't talking about ethnicity. They were slower than Christmas, and completely disorganized (which was probably why they were so slow). The place was clean and the food was good, but there's no reason for it to take 45 minutes to get two 5-piece orders of chicken strips...

Best Popeye's chicken joint I ever went to was in the ghetto near the University of Houston when I was working on a construction project at the university.

Starkville, MS... that says it all. Starkville is where some people feel real uppity, really uppity. My first Popeye's experience was at the original store in Biloxi, MS. Everyone is more friendly and on the same wavelength down there.

My Charlies experience was in Bartlesville. We were not impressed and felt that 21.00 for 2 lunches was unreasonable. Never went back. Two different styles of fried chicken though.

The first time I had Popeye's was in Florida and I was probably around ten years old. Not sure if it is the same chain or not but they actually had good ol Popeye on the menu's and around the restaurant. It was a lot different then and was almost like a McDonald's inside with a different menu and characters. Sheesh that was a long time ago, how time flies...

There's a difference between being in a ghetto and being ghetto. This place wasn't in a ghetto, it just wasn't well-run. I've had some good food, but I've never had any food that was worth waiting, standing, with about twenty people I don't even know, for forty five minutes. If they hadn't already gotten my money, I'd've left after about five minutes.

I enjoyed my time in Starkville, and met some very nice people there.

We like spicy. Real spicy. For whatever reason, I don't like chicken breast. Thighs or legs for us.
