Where I live ATT DSL is the only wired internet available, and the only way to get unlimited data is to bundle it with Direct TV, so that's what we've got.
Tried two of the fixed wireless services before ATT, they sucked really bad. Sometimes they weren't much better than dial-up speeds.

I'd cut the cord if we had better Internet access so we could get Netflix, Prime, etc.

I got rid of direct tv back in the summer. I switched to amazon prime, hulu and netflix. Last time direct tv called they were up to around $400 to get me to come back. Too bad that’s like 3 months of programming....
This is exactly what we did about 4 months ago after ATT took over and DirectTv upped my "basic" cable to $78. Also installed a ClearStream antenna and the family is happy.

This antenna works as advertised. We have one. The remote antenna rotator kind of sucks, but at $40 cry me a river. It works, but every time you push the button to rotate it, it reverses directions so you don't know where your at without a visual.

This looks identical to the one I just put up ... identical ... but it's a different brand???? Rotor doesn't work, but I really don't care. I knew which way I needed it pointed and solid mounted it. It might be interesting to see if I could pull in some Wichita stations, though!

We have one of these 150 mile antennas on our RV to replace the junk antenna on it and I have another in my shop TV to pick up Air channels. In Ponca we are 100 miles from Tulsa, OKC and Wichita Ks, so I pick up channels from all...for free.
Direct TV in the home. Wife won't have anything else. TV junkie.

Do you think that antenna can be placed in an attic and work as advertised? The price isn't bad at all.

We haven't had cable TV for more than 20 years. We have ATLink internet with their telephone service. We get all the TV we want(or can stand!) over the air, and I do a lot of Youtube studying everything from cooking to machining. I do OSA, HotAir, and a couple other websites as well.

We have one of those high-tech antennas similar to Dennis Hoddy's in the attic and it works just fine. Chanel 41.whatever gets funky sometimes but I believe it is them and not our antenna. We used to have the same problem with Chanel 5.whatever but after the 'reboot', it works fine and the problem shifted to Chanel 41.

Did you know you can get the unlimited data with DirecTV Now? I got a notification from AT&T last week that they were dropping the $30 charge for true unlimited data as I have DirecTV Now. (If you don't know about DirecTV Now, it's an internet streaming version of DirecTV. I have the "Live A Little" package with over 60 channels--including all four of the Tulsa network affiliates-- for $40 a month. Also, DirecTV Now has the closest UI to a traditional cable/satellite box.)

Hmmm...
But you still need a separate internet service right?

Ours is temporarily mounted on a 10’ piece of 3/4” pvc tubing that goes over a steel rod driven into the ground to run the TV in my shop.
When we take the RV out, it goes with us and gets zip tied to the rear ladder for local channels.
It might work in the attic, but I’d think it’s effectiveness would be reduced. It is pretty sensitive to being properly oriented to the signal for the best picture.
