These are my 3. Two Tactical models, one Stainless and one blued. And a NRA Edition with the Hogue overmolded stock. All 3 run like scalded dogs.

Ruger mags are all I ever used in the Mini. Very reliable weapon with good mags.
Exactly. It's been proven on most every gun forum in existence, that Ruger Mini 14's only function with 100% reliability with RUGER magazines. So it's pointless to run anything but. What is the point of knowingly decreasing the reliability of ANY firearm, by trying to save a few bucks on the magazines that feed them. It's false and stupid economics.

Would you waste money buying cheap, older meat at the supermarket, if you knew there was a much greater chance of it making you sick? That's no different than buying cheap magazines for a weapon you may call on to save your life. Yet people do it all the time.

Because Ruger 30 rounders are $50. For AR15 magazines, Magpuls at most are $15, Lancers are usually $15 something.

Besides accuracy, the cost of magazines keeps a lot of people from owning a Mini. Id love to own one if somebody would make a reliable magazine. Or if somebody made a Mini stock that used Magpul mags

I've purchased several 20 round Ruger Mini 14 magazines on sale for $30.00 or less. You have to watch for sales. Buying cheaper magazines isn't a viable option if they don't work. Which few if any do. Magazines for AR's are cheaper because it's a military weapon.

It's much the same with ammo. 5.56 is way cheaper than .222 Remington for the same reason. The Mini is a consumer produced rifle. So magazine cost will be higher. But I doubt it pushes the gun to unaffordability. Any semi auto .223 / 5.56 MM is going to burn through ammunition. That will determine affordability far more than magazine cost will. In civilian use a well cared for magazine will last all but indefinitely. It's not necessary to own dozens of them. Anyone who can afford to buy and shoot an AR can do the same with a Mini 14.

I beg to differ. Having dozens of magazines is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY!!!! LOL
