Can’t blame the guys with their liberal nut job Democrats in charge. Andrew Como and De Blasio Making a mess of things. I can see this happening in a lot of majority blue areas with their insane stupid policies. Cutting funding or eliminating police forces to appease anti-American terrorist organizations? Democrats bring their own misfortunes

I think it is just what they want. Destroy law and order - and the economy - and the door will open for the Fascist, Marxists, socialist, communists and other despots, tyrants and dictators to step in and "save the day."

They will be as brutal as they see fit to take over. They may not be as willing to die for their cause as we would be to maintain/restore freedom but they are certainly willing to kill for their cause.

Stay vigilant, keep your powder dry, and remember the taste of freedom so that those who follow will have the same taste of freedom and be willing to preserve it for those who follow them.

With a department consisting of 35k officers, I don’t think the numbers are too far out of line. I’ve spoken with former NYPD officers who now work for OCPD. They said the dept is not a good work environment and they were much happier here in OK.

In recent times, working for any PD is difficult because all the snowflakes are running rampant, the politicians and administrators are afraid of bad press and it’s easy to get thrown under the bus. I saw an interview on TV last night with a Chief who fired an officer who offered to resign after an incident. The chief said that he didn’t want his resignation, that he wanted it to be well known that the officer had been fired to prevent him from getting another job in LE.

The old school officers who can no longer do the job as they were trained see the writing on the wall and pull the pin and retire. Better to take the money and (hopefully) retire in good health and live the rest of their lives telling tales with friends of the “good ol’ days” of kicking butt and taking names.

I’d have to see annual averages before I buy in to the “large numbers”. Annual retirement timing fluctuates with the stock market and other factors. My neighbor was a Captain on the local P.D. he took a look at the numbers recently, dropped his paperwork on a Monday and was retired by Friday. Earlier than he planned but he would’ve lost money if he stayed.

I know this though, all those NYPD retirees add a good financial hit to the city/state. Average New York P.D. retirement is over $80k and 6 figure retirements are becoming more common.

I retired 4 years ago, never looked back.
Thank you for your service sir.

I'd love to see the entire Minneapolis police department just walk away after the city council voted unanimously to eliminate the police department. They won't be able to do it in the end because it has to be put before the voters I think to change the city charter to allow that, but if that was the attitude of city leaders where I was a police officer, I would walk out the door.

Lets see what happens in Minneapolis after they do that. I'm guessing it would be real chaos and probably lots of excitement.

The people running that city are useless, pathetic, socialists anyway. So let them have it.

They would probably do the same thing they do here. They would expect the county and state to take over LE functions.

There are two cities here in McClain County that decided that they didn’t want a Police Department and contacted for coverage with the County Sheriff.
