Just stop eating bread and all wheat, don’t eat sweet stuff, prepare your own meals and have plenty of Already cooked brown and wild rice in the fridge. And eat anything else you want. It’s not hard and it’s all you need to do
And be a grumpy old miserable person. :pms2::pms2::pms2:
Join the club. It’s not too bad. Except the bread part
I'm already grumpy old and miserable, I might as well eat right.

My problem is that every time I try going low carb it gets real expensive.

Any tips for eating low carb long term on a real tight budget without just eating the same three things every day?

I am seldom grumpy. An ******* at times but not grumpy. :P

To eat low carb on a budget, lots of pork, chic, eggs, and hamburger when on sale. Leafy green veggies. When you eat carbs, make sure they are good carbs like sweet potato. (no adding sugar) Take the time to shop the sales. Crest in Edmond has pork loin for $1.78lb that can be cut into roast, chops or stew meat.

Main thing is, if you eat carbs, eat carbs with lots of fiber.

The only way that works for me when I apply myself is to throw out all the stuff in the house I can’t eat and shouldn’t eat. Scorched earth.
If you can’t do that because of the unhealthy bastards you live with in your house, then take over one shelf in the fridge, and one kitchen cabinet. Stock it up And only eat from there. Never any fast food. 100% never.
And don’t think low carb, think high glycemic index carbs. Beans quinoa brown rice even a slice of rye bread or whole grain English muffin ain’t bad. Just stay away from white fat boy bread.
read about the Mediterranean diet
Simple eating is simple cheap brown rice is cheap, olive oil is cheap, and a pound of 90% lean beef or any meat is cheap and should last you 4 meals. Eggs are cheap. A dozen is 4-5 meals. If you
Like fish you’re really in luck. I hate any fish that I don’t catch myself.
And then level with your self that you won’t have as many things to eat as you used to and deal with it as a grown man. Look at it like Food is fuel. You’re a machine, even a Lamborghini just eats one thing. Besides money. If you want to have a guilty pleasure Because your food is boring then might I suggest pornhub. Lol.
Or tea, or fly tying. Or exercise or writing in a journal. Or save it for a nightly shoot of scotch, or bit of tobacco
Healthy eating and good living is a huge paradigm shift of lifestyle for most people.
And I’m Catholic. When I eat bad or don’t take care of myself, I just ask for forgiveness from God and move on. There is no failure just because you eat bad (or sin). Cause we’re all bad eaters and sinners.
and I’m writing this 98% for my benefit cause I need the advice prob more than you.

Good call on the sweet potato. Also, I used to eat 1-1.5 pounds of meat a day, Now I try to keep it under .25. Sure I miss it, but I’m used to it.
Also I got diagnosed w type 2 about 6 months ago. I could feel it and had some weird symptoms. My a1c was 11.8 and my doc gave me a Low daily dose of metformin. Early this month I went back and my a1c was 5.1. He took me off metformin and said it was the biggest turnaround he ever saw.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes almost seven years ago and they estimate by the extent of the nerve damage in my feet that I could have had it three years before that.

I have been able to get my A1C down around 5 several times but it is a real battle to keep it down more than about 6 months at a time.

My wife and I went on vacation and my wife ran into an Aldi's and she came out empty handed. She said it was like a Dollar General store but for food. Random food and brands on the shelves and then the no-bag checkout. Said it was very weird to say the least.

She was wrong. Aldi has their own brands that are every bit as good as other name brands. They also do carry a few name brands at times. A lot of their stuff is organic if you are into that. I eat their pork sausage almost every day for breakfast and their canned goods are comparable to Libby's. Not the best but not bad.

You do need to take your own bags unless you want to pay for some and take a quarter to get a shopping cart, but you get that back when you are done.
