Honestly I wouldn’t use either just yet. If the holster’s just tight get a couple plastic zip locks, put the gun in them and shove the gun in the holster a few days and it’ll get where it needs to be.

warm to hot water if you like. i water form every knife sheath i make then let dry a couple weeks just to make sure hang it up somewhere you will have to use the pistol to form it to so dry with hair dryer gently and re oil. should have a nice fit after that. leather takes to water forming very well. first very expensive pair of cowboy boots i ever bought Drysdales told me to stand in a bathtub of warm water and wear till dry best pair i probably every had.

As a leather craftsman and maker of holsters, I agree with the warm water method. Get is wet, fit the gun in it and then let the leather dry without the gun in it but continue to check for a good fit while it is drying. I like to let my new holsters dry slowly to prevent them from getting too tight. Make sure to oil it after is is dry.

Using neets foot oil is a mistake,,,
If you use enough to make the leather "formable",,,
The holster will become too soft and will quickly get "floppy".

But there is no benefit in "soaking" the holster in water either.

Wrap your pistol in about 6-8 feet of saran Wrap,,,
Quickly dunk the holster in lukewarm water,,,
Shake/wipe off any excess surface water.

Now insert the pistol in the holster and remove it many many times,,,
Work it with your hands to form it to the guns contour.

Allow it to dry with the pistol in place for at least 24 hours,,,
Putting it in front of a fan doesn't hurt it at all.

Just make sure it's completely dry,,,
Before putting the bare pistol back in it.

After you are certain that it's completely dry,,,
Apply a tiny amount of neets foot oil,,,
Or any other leather conditioner.
