I envy you. Feeding twice a day and breaking ice while I’m at it. Never had a barn for livestock and after a leak last year that ran out 100k gallons into the pasture in a few days (hydrant only 1/4 open) I don’t trust it in temps this cold, I’ll just put my back into it on the pond.
Thankfully, rural water allows 1 leak per year, and they just average the bill.
Grandson gets to drive my pickup to the barn to check cows and feed chickens.
He thinks he is getting lucky. He will bust ice, when needed. And do a few donuts on the icy grass.
Lung damage to lungs from Fauci biohazard, I can't breath that cold, dry air.

Had a line to my toilets freeze. Strange it's never frozen in all the years we've been here . put a heat lamp on it and it thawed right out. Probably the old insulation settling in this old House.

Feel for you Sir. I got the Vid November 2021, spent nearly 3 weeks in ICU and came home 4 and a half months on oxygen. Took 7 months total to get back to work. And yes that cold hurts to breath. I'm gaining everyday but still not 100%.

i have absolutely no way of regulating the temperature of that attic.
I had a house in the past that had a large screened in area on the North and South side for attic ventilation. In the coldest part of the winter I made a plywood cover for the one on the North side. Any possibility you might be able to block some of your attic vents, even temporarily untill you can get some insulation over your pex?

i definitely could, but any money, effort, and time spent are lost returns. ie, i have no incentive.

there *is* insulation over the pex, i guess just not enough lol. i just figure in the middle of summer when it was likely 110 f up there they figured it would be fine, i dunno.

getting the pex closer to the ceiling would be ideal. i've googled around to see other methods and some even drill holes into the cross beams to run the pex thru, that way it can go under the ceiling insulation.

i suppose i could get a roll and just roll it over it, that's waaaay less work than i've already done that's fer sure. but using my materials to make stuff for someone else's house that they should be upkeeping? not a chance lol, let it freeze, burst, and flood my stuff is protected. costly leak for someone (like last time, you'd THINK they would learn?)

Okie dokie in MWC, but I feel sorry for some of those folks that sold their homes when prices were sky-high and decided to buy an RV with the proceeds and go full time. I'll bet some of them are frozen tight.
