pick a side, and by gawd you're either totally with us or totally against us...there's no other option in this cult

A side? Did you say pick a side? Okay; with my Hot Links, I'd like some fried jalapeños on the side please. And a large glass of ice water.

Incidentally, I predicted this exact situation years ago. In fact, I was working for a bankruptcy lawyer at the time, and predicted an uptick in personal bankruptcy filings as hours got cut to keep them below the cap that would make them eligible for insurance.

And the meeting may not have been recorded (it'd be great if it was), but a good reporter will interview multiple witnesses, just like a good lawyer would.

Lots of companies have been doing this. In spite of many assertions I've seen even on this website, I know personally of several large regional employers who cut employees' hours, yet hired more employees. This is an obvious ploy to keep people under the hours restriction which requires an employer to provide health insurance.

When I've mentioned this to people I've been met with claims like, "No company would ever do that!" and "That's just silly." Yet it is happening. Therefore, most of these folks, who are lower wage-earners (i.e., unskilled workers, OJT, etc.,) are being forced to find a second job to make up for the reduction in hours - not to mention benefits other than insurance, like vacation and sick leave, etc.

I agree, I've seen companies do this as well. I think there's a difference between cutting people's hours to make them ineligible for benefits and telling people who DO qualify for benefits that they MUST decline. I just asked my own HR person about it "hypothetically". They said it was illegal as hell and that they would contact HR at the headquarters in OKC.

Braums only uses about a 1/3 of their own milk and mixes it. Much like wine companies.

Braums is in Tuttle.

Be clear wether your taking about a franchise owner or Sonic Corp. I could easily see a franchise owner saying that about hours vs. insurance.

Also, I know a manager of a sonic store that pulls a solid 80-100k yearly depending on performance bonuses.
