I have a 642 I got in pretty rough shape for a great price. I soaked it in MEK for a couple of weeks, scrubbed the finish off, and buffed the frame to a decent shine. Acetone will take the leftover finish off as well, but takes longer to dissolve it.
I remember that one! Any pics of the after?

I don't know why I forgot to mention this, but I have a friend that began with an average used 637, and just started polishing on his lunch breaks. This is the end result.
