In that case I’m a “Vietnam times” vet. January 1975-1979. My drill instructor got us all together one day and told us the good news is we weren’t going to Vietnam but the bad news was we were going to Cambodia. I joined with a Military Police guarantee but he also broke the news that every Marine was a rifleman first. One small fact my recruiter failed to mention. All I saw was Kansas and couple of trips to bring prisoners back.

I signed up for a delayed enlistment program in March of 1975 before I graduated High School. My first day of basic was June 9, 1975. I’ve been told several times that I was Vietnam ERA.

I never left stateside till after I left active duty in 1978 to join the AF Reserve at Tinker. When my time was up, a friend of mine talked me into to enlisting in the OK Air Natl Guard. Shortly after Gulf-1 started, one of the Sgts in personnel assigned to awards and decorations told me that I was authorized two awards for the National Defense ribbon. One for the Vietnam era and the second for Gulf-1.

This really irks me. My dad was in Vietnam in 1970. He was 101st Airborne, 1st of the 506th, E company. He was in the Recon platoon. He was at Ripcord when it got overran. He saw some of the worst of the worst. So, I don’t like it when people try to falsely claim that they were part of something when they clearly were not. It really seems like this guys is an attention whore from the beginning so it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s lying about his service.

Those kinds of attention whores usually getting all kinds of attention lol. We'll find out soon enough this guy is one of them.

My dad and your dad might have served together. I don't know specifics of his unit offhand, but he was a Ranger in the 101st. He died when I was very young, so I don't have a lot of specifics. He probably came back in early/mid 1970, I think, as my older brother was born in Dec 1971.

The more I see, hear and read about this guy beating the drum in this kid's face, the more angry I get. I think this whole thing is virtue signalling and trying to trigger something. I really think it's another case of a minority or minority group (or several groups, really) out actually LOOKING for trouble, trying to stir up trouble. And the f***ing MSM and bleeding-heart left and even some of the right jumping on these kids for doing absolutely NOTHING wrong.... man. These kids need someone standing up for them. Telling them to stand their ground, that they are not alone, that they have no reason to be ashamed, and that they shouldn't feel like being white and Christian is something to apologize for.

I am really starting to get irritated over all this BS, and the fact that so many are still trying to promote the narrative these kids were in the wrong. That's bulls**t, man. Total bulls**t.

They have closed the school today because of security concerns. Death threats against the students and bombing threats against the school.

Besides that, I f he served in USMC he wouldn’t have felt threatened by a high school kid. Maybe he was Army. :)

:angry3:

I also enlisted into the military police program but soon realized I didn't want to be a gate guard throughout my military career. I transferred to become infantry recon and was proud to be a rifleman first. Of course, I was in the US Army. Some covert assignments in Vietnam progressed into a career in intelligence operations. During my career I was proud to work with many Marine personnel, most of which had extensive combat experience. However, being able to sign your name and survive boot camp did not impress me. My deceased son-in-law did this and he couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag.

This stupid thing just keeps unfolding. If nothing else I would hope that maybe some people would learn to think for themselves instead of jumping on the first idiotic posting they see about something. Unfortunately I doubt very seriously it will happen.

I’ve watched several different videos showing this happen. There’s enough stupid going on for everyone involved.

One thing I haven’t discerned yet is where the students responsible adults were during all this or were they just out there unsupervised?

Here, but occasionally There.
From what I read somewhere, there were chaperones there with the students, but probably not enough to "cover all the bases."

But, in spite of it all, I have to say that Mr. Phillips may have no honor, either as a Marine or an Omaha tribesman.

I sincerely hope he gets "burned" for his actions, if not from the military, perhaps by his tribe.

While I have a great deal of respect for anyone that has served, I'm not sure that it pays to call out other branches. Yeah, it is fine to be proud of one's branch of service. Before diminishing the Army, perhaps a perusal of the document at the link below can shed light on which branch seems to have had the most casualties.

American War and Military Operations Casualties

U.S. Army 1966 to 1969. NOT a Vietnam vet.
