Been shooting 215 gr. SWC Lead JK Bullets in the 41 mag for awhile now. I have a 500 ct box of Oregon Trails 215 gr. SWC bullets lying around and decided to open them and take a look. First thing I noticed was the lube was a different color. The area above and below the lube groove had slightly more surface on the Oregon Trails bullets. I weighed 10 each and got 210.2 gr. for the Oregon Trails and 212.2 gr. for the JK bullets. Both bullets High/Low was around .4 gr. The length was the same for both. Diameter was also the same. Looked at the box of Oregon Trails and read where they claim rated #1 in accuracy. And the test was born. After having a bunch of the JK Bullets already loaded with a big batch of new Starline brass, the only thing left was load some Oregon Trails bullets. All were loaded with 7.1 grs of W231 powder, Light/Medium crimp and Win WLP primer. There will be 5 volunteer 41 mag pistols for the bullet test. Two will be Ruger Blackhawks with 6.5 barrel length, Two S&W Model 57 in 6” and 8 3/8 barrel and a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter with 7.5” barrel. They all got 6 rounds of each bullet through them @ 25 yds shooting with a front rest. Here are the results.

Now do the test again with some true magnum loads and see what they do.
Ill have to eat some Wheaties to test all five. LoL I did some magnum loads with the SBH the other day and found out the older Hornady #4100 210 gr shot more accurate than the newer #41000 XTP The 2 groups on the left are the older ones. 21.0 gr of W296.
