My knowledge of these things has migrated as I've gotten older, but that reminds me of an ex-dragoon.

So I'm a bit newer to the mosin addiction. I own both a 91/30 and a 44. What is the significance of the five line? Also, my goal is to have one from every decade since the start.

The five line tula script was only done 1924-28. And then they switched over to the Tula star with an arrow. Its not very common and more desirable.

At some point, you will hear reference to a 3-line rifle. In this reference, a line is 1/10"; 3-line is 3/10", or .30 caliber.
This 5-line reference is divorced from this.
