A scope on a lever action rifle just ain't right.

I have seen everything shot with a 30-30. Most everyone learned on them in the years past. What a rifle and cartridge that has did so much.

Winchester model 88 is also a nice lever rifle. Like the Savage 99 also.

Am I ever late to this discussion! In lever rifles I have or have had Marlin, Winchester, Browning, Henry, and Savage. I will trust my Savage 99 over anything else. Period, hands down. I can use spire bullets, I have five plus one, reloading is simple, accuracy is awesome, feel is just that much better. The Savage is faster for me to react. I got rid of every bolt gun but a REM 700 in preference to the 99. But that is just me.

Marlin model 336 (JM stamped) gets my vote. That was my first rifle and I love it. I don't care for the Winchester.

I am curious how the Marlins are now that Ruger is making them. Anyone have any experience with the new versions?

I am also in the market for one when (if) I get a bonus later this year. if I do, I will likely get a Henry but the new Marlins are in the discussion for me as well.
