Reading the news this morning makes me wonder what the Republican party will do to win the 2016 Presidential race. There's more than just 2A rights at stake here. IMO, the GOP lost the last election because they allowed themselves to get bogged down by the religious right wing and threw women under the bus. Time to let states run themselves and stick to actually running the country.

And, we need a pool of candidates capable of leading the country.

They lost because they did not motivate their base and the other side did. The idea that they threw women under the bus is quite absurd. Women are not a monolithic block of voters that care only about birth control. The religious right stayed home. Look at how many votes for McCain vs how many for Romney. The republicans playing their hand safe and conventional with plain potato candidates is what cost them the election. They need to trade their stone cold pragmatism (Romney would have been the Go-to Guy on the spending problems) for someone that excites people and makes people mad at the same time.

dugby, you nailed the issues. Romney couldn't get the religious right to turn out because of his religion. Very sad that "single" type issues can make or break conservative canidates. 2016 has be about the constitution and the states.. NOT about the single issues, broken down by the media to be exploited by the left.

They need someone who is a real American, who knows how to run a business (cause let's face it our country is like a big business) & someone who will fight to keep America as it should be. Only problem with that is that the same people who voted for Obama this past 2 elections would vote against a Rep. running on American values cause those values consist of working for what you have, raising children properly & taking responsibility. Not enough of our population are willing to do that & will vote for whatever is easiest.

The GOP lost because they keep nominating the next guy in their line of crappy guys. They didn't lose because they catered to the "religious right" they lost because they blew them off and treated them like the left treats the black vote. In the end the biggest problem begins with the fact that the party forced the godfather of Obamacare down everyone's throats and many just stayed home. They media spin is the republican party is moving to the right, but in reality, both parties are moving to the left and in the process the republican party is leaving it's base behind.
