Ammo Warning ... French 7.62 Case Failure ... 1949 Lot 63-54

My buddy was shooting this yesterday morning at Sand Springs Gun Club.
Out of a batch of 20 rounds... 7 failed cases.

good question... No head space has not been check with a go - no go gauge. but this french 7.62 ammo has been shot in two different military rifles and failed the same way in both rifles.

also both rifles have reliably shot hundreds of rounds, different ammo with zero problems.

Is that 7.62 nato?
I've seen that in 5.56 and 7.62 nato actually quite often.
I think most people don't look at their brass after they shoot
So they have no clue how often it happens.
Split necks and split case are common in milsurp brass.

case failure for one shell had 5 splits with more indents in brass looking like back half was getting ready to let go. Second round has a single split.

these are 30.06 French ammo ... may have to make an investment for some go/no go gauges.

It's French. They didn't actually intend for the stuff to be used!

Seriously though, is that .30-06 or .308?
