It's almost as if the 6.5CM was/is an attempt to duplicate the 6.5x55 ballistics in a short action.It's interesting as a cartridge to me because of how it lines up with other stuff. In some ways it's the 6.5 Creedmoor's granddaddy with the 6.5 projectile ... where the granddaddy has a crap ton more case capacity for powder. At the same time, the actual brass is derived from another big boomer --- the 375 H&H which is also the parent for the 7mm Rem Mag. In fact the only difference between 7mm and 264 is .02 inches (7mm being .284 and 6.5 being .264).
Or something like that.
