Anyone hunt hogs with irons on their ARs?

Thinking about mounting a scope on mine but i like shooting with the irons

I guess it depends on the terrain;brush vs. fields.

I have a scope on the AR but I don't use it much for beating the brush for pigs. I much prefer lever action brush guns with ghost ring sights in the thick stuff.

All of mine are flat tops, but I could see where irons might have an advantage at times.

I saw a bushnell banner 1-3 at bass pro looked like it's be a good little scope for it. I dont think I'd need one much more powerful than that.

I use both, prefer sights over scope though. I have a nice compact tactical scope for sale, brand new. Pm for info.

A scope adds 15-20 extra minutes on either side of sunrise and sunset, and a bit more distance too, compared to irons. Even if you have really good eyes, it adds a good 10 minutes on either side. Given that pigs are nearly noctural, more so than deer, and if seen at all, are usually seen very early and very late, I'd go with a scope. Just me....

Who needs AR's? Just lever guns and a Boar Spear are all you need... Maybe a dog or two would help.
