I'm somewhat needed,,,
Don't know if I am "essential" though.

I manage the on-line learning system at my college,,,
Since we all have gone to on-line classes,,,
I'm still coming in to my campus office.

It's essentially the same thing as staying home for me,,,
My building is locked and I don't let anyone actually come into my office.

Everything I do is over the telephone or video chat,,,
I would be able to do the same from home if I had better internet.

I live way out in the boonies,,,
Since my cell doesn't get a signal in my mobile home,,,
And my internet service is slow and iffy, it's impossible for me to telecommute.

I volunteered to come in for work anyways,,,
I mean someone has to be here to address the problems that arise,,,
Everyone else in my section is married with small children or elderly live-in relatives or both.

It just made sense for me to come in,,,
Besides I'm not burning up my annual leave this way.

My college did make emergency accommodations for free "administrative" leave,,,
But it's only going to cover one (maybe two) weeks at most,,,
I'm just crossing my fingers and avoiding people.

Wish me luck!

Aarond
