Shooting steel indoors will likely smash the lights above with shrapnel. You may have to build cages or coat them with that rubber stuff.

I LOVE my MGM auto popper and would not hesitate to buy from Tom Drazy. Don't skimp, buy quality steel targets.

I use www.mgmtargets.com

Auto poppers, as long as the steel stays smooth free of divots you should experience no shrapnel.

Since these pics the targets have been recessed into the backstop.

GT Targets made me an excellent deal on some plates and holders. I mention steel challenge and he come down on his list price about 30%.
He says they use all AR500.

I have 3, I have used mgmtargets and letargets.com

Both were good experiences.

As for shrapnel, if you get the good stuff (500 brinnell) and never shoot it with your steel core 30-06 (or .223) and put any dimples in it, the shrapnel doesn't tend to come back at you, even at 5 yards.

If you are using beat up dimpled steel. Expect it to shoot back.

I buy the 500 brinnell and shoot .45 at it. The steel will probably last forever.

What will these withstand? I am assuming pistol but what about 12 gauge slug, .223 (non steel core) FMJ, hollowpoint? If so on .223, how close?

Thanks,

WD
