I collected baseball cards as a kid and recently pulled them out of storage. Hundreds of early 1990s era baseball cards (a few football and basketball mixed in for good measure), in pretty dang good condition for being 30 years old. Sorted through about half last night and pulled the ones with well known names. I plan to get a Beckett guide this week and see what I might have.

The Dennis Byrd was an interesting find because of his Oklahoma connection. He grew up in Oklahoma City, went to Mustang, graduated from TU, played in the NFL until he was paralyzed during a collision with a teammate. He went through rehabilitation and learned to walk again, but was killed in Claremore in a car accident in 2016. I read his biography as a kid and it said he took a small bag of Oklahoma dirt to all the stadiums he played in and sprinkled a little bit before each game.

Here are a couple more. Pretty cool to go through them and see names that meant a lot as a kid but you don’t hear much about anymore. Don Mattingly, Pudge Rodriguez, Juan Gonzalez, Mark Grace, Gregg Maddox, Robin Yount.

The market for collectible cards crashed hard in the mid - late 90s. I’m not sure if it’s ever recovered. I don’t believe so.

I have several full totes of fb card sets from the 80’s if it ever does.

All of mine were used as motorcycle engine substitutes with a clothespin on my bike. I just know I had a Willie Mayes and a Mickey Mantle rookie card. Probably more than one.
That’s where all mine went in the EARLY 60’s = motorcycle bike! Didn’t know what we had.. as with everything else 👍
