Glad I filled the freezer on Friday with a half of a beef I split with a buddy.

Here's the pricing:
Split a 1,210 lbs full hoof weight - $1,361.25 for my half
Kill fee - $27.50 my half
Processing fee - $0.85 per lb on 374 lbs my half - $317.90 my half

The total was about $4.59 per pound.

The processor said he is scheduled a full year out.

If you like following beef:

Wow

Price is up

$4.59 isn't bad for good beef.

The farmer we get the beef from raised his price .25 per pound, that’s up about 10%. He’s a dirt farmer and not a beef rancher. He buys about 8 calves a year to raise on grass for friends and family.

I think the processor is about the same. However, they went from paper wrap to vacuumed sealed, which I prefer.
