Depends. If things got wet, dropped in the mud, or high humidity, I’ll give it a good wipe down and a gun oil soaked patch through the bore followed by one or two dry. Otherwise, a full thorough clean two or three times a year if it was used a lot in the time frame. I hunt year around though.

After every shooting session I clean the bore with a bore snake with a couple drops of oil. A couple of pull throughs is fine. About once a year I do a thorough cleaning with a brass brush and Hoppes copper solvent. After every use I wipe down all metal surfaces with light oil.

I don’t clean my rifles until accuracy is an issue. I run a snake down my bore every so often but it’s typically hundreds of rounds, close to a thousand before it gets a good clean. Brass brush, hoppes, lots of mobile 1. Of course, all my rifles are higher end gas guns.
