Your home is attacked and marauders are dragging a loved one towards their vehicle. Both perpetrators are armed with pistols, and you are armed with a semi-auto rifle. Based on your training and experience, you have a 50% chance of neutralizing one of the attackers or a 50% chance of hitting your loved one. Would you take the shot or not?

I would be blasting away!... better for the loved one to die by my hand than to be carried off and used or tortured to death.

Shoot the hostage!

Seriously, I'd take the shot. That or put a few rounds in some tires and then take the shot. Percentages seem off and could use some more details (like distance) but I realize they have to set some limitations.

take the shot, they might drop the hostage or let loose long enough to fire back so you get a better shot. A rifle with good optics should help your odds.

Disable their vehicle first off, then go at neutralizing the threats to the best of my abilities.

You cant make a good shot if you dont take it.

For certain bad things are about to happen to the loved one. By taking the shot, lots of good could happen. SHOOT.

Yeah, take the shot. Like the idea of vehicle disable first, give you time to better position yourself for a shot. If you don't take the shot, your loved one is most likely dead anyway.

Another vote for taking the shot. If I was the one being dragged away, I'd sure as hell want my loved ones to take the shot.
