BS! Most people would prefer to buy American. With China keeping their wages to an all time low and no EPA, OSHA or Unions how in the hell are we to compete? Pleople need to pull there heads out of their butts.

What does protectionism have to do with Americans preference to buy domestic? If that were the case there would be no market for Chinese product.

The second half is maybe true, but you can't call BS. It is called protectionism and it doesn't always work. Whether people would prefer to buy American or not doesn't guarantee anything.

Keep in mind that these things do not exist in a vacuum. You can't raise tariffs on Chinese goods and not expect a reaction from China. Global economics isn't as simple as "do this" or "do that" and things get fixed.

Many Americans would prefer to buy domestic, but the choice is difficult when the cost difference is so high. For some items you can buy them 4-5 times from an overseas manufacturer before you paid full price from a domestic one. However, even a 20-30% price difference is enough to convince most people, it seems to me.

Go back to sleep!

Once again please explain? Your assumption that Americans prefer domestic product makes no sense in reality. I bet more than half the people living in America rarely check to see if something is made in America. No amount of protectionism is going to save the U.S. You're absolutely right about the low wages and lack of regulation in China. Unfortunately the reversal of the Chinese take over can only come from the U.S. consumer buying american.

Protectionism through high tariffs was tried in 1930 with disastorous results. Other nations retaliated in kind and gave an added boost to the oncoming depression.

Yeah...

That's why Walmart is the largest retailer on the planet with revenues greater than many nations GDP because Americans prefer to buy American.

Americans are just like every other rational consumer on the planet. They internally evaluate many, many factors when making a buying decision one of the biggest of which is price.

OH and raising tariffs does not make American products more comptetitive it just artificially raises the price of imported goods. The end result is that you will have to pay more for everything and not the US manufacturer becoming more efficient and productive as you wrongly contend.
