Deer hunting in west Oklahoma

I'm looking at deer hunting in west Oklahoma this year (Pack saddle and Black Kettel). I'm use to long range shooting so What I'm asking is how is the success rate and good areas to park a fifth wheel.

Black Kettle has a couple lakes with hookups for parking a 5th wheel.

That being said, there are no deer on Black Kettle. None. At all.

Bull - I shot my first archery buck on Black Kettle. It's covered up with deer.

I went out and doped my rifle from 100 to 600 yards today. I was told at Pack Saddle you need less brains and more back.

Now that's no lie. Shoot a deer there and it might take most of a day to get it out. Buddy shot one down on the river in evening and they got it to the truck at midnight - 3 of them working at it. They don't drag too good through shin-oak.

Some of it can be rough country. I always see tons of deer during spring turkey. I have been thinking of heading out there for deer gun.

It's still very hard and rare to get a long shot. There's a lot more brush (shinnery oak and whatnot), trees, canyons, and hills than what that area looks like from the highway. Lot of deer, but a lot more places for them to stay hidden than you might think.
