The last hunting lease I had was $0.20 an acre.

2000 acres near Caddo for $400. Year round exclusive hunting rights. Ten of us split the cost at $40 each.:D

Sorry for the OT rant, but I’m just sick of hearing dumb*sses attempting to compare sh*t they know absolutely nothing about. Hopefully, this will end the illusion of what a “deal” Oklahoma hunting is for out of staters. :rolleyes2

The funny thing is that I’ve never seen this justifiable comparison made on any Texas hunting message board I’ve :anyone:

Haven’t looked at the costs for either resident or non-resident hunting licenses in a long time. That is crazy expensive! Got my lifetime combo license a little over 30 years ago for a grand total of $400.

Never heard of that for Oklahoma, but I’m not a lawyer either. I’ve always thought that if you own the land then you could be held liable for anything that happens on the property regardless of lease value.
Oklahoma has a law that protects the landowner against lawsuits if they allow others to use it for sporting purposes. It was recently strengthened last year if I remember right. I've never heard of the $10 per acre thing.

You are so full of sh*t, but I’ll play along.

A non resident can hunt everything in Texas (deer, turkey, quail, doves, small game etc) for $441/year.

Now let’s compare that to Oklahoma.
$280 for archery
$280 for muzzleloader
$280 for rifle
$176 for general hunting license
$10 for fall turkey
$10 for spring turkey
$10 for waterfowl
$1046/year
Let me help you with this.
If you're from Oklahoma and over 65 years old, you do not need a fishing license in the state of Tx. Your driver's license serves as your permit. No saltwater permit, nothing.
In Missouri, a Veteran from any state with 70% or higher disability can fish for free with a $10 trout permit being the only money needing to be provided. A small game hunting license is also free.

Lifetime = zero dollars except for bear I think. Crane/HIP is free when you're an old fart.

Four of us pay $4 an acre for 1,000 acres in NW Oklahoma. The rule set by the landowner is no baby bucks, none of us shoot young deer or does anyway so it does not matter. The land owner also does not want any camping or anything like that on the ranch, which we do not want to do anyway, that just destroys the area where you camp from your hunt.

In 5 years I have not tagged out black powder twice but killed 2 good bucks each other year so I have killed 8 good bucks for $1,000 per year. All of the bucks I have killed there were in the 155

to 182 pound range field dressed. All of them were 9 or 10 points with racks that were 18-21 inches wide. B and C wise they were in the 130-150- range, one maybe 155.

The land is part of a big ranch and they have cattle on it until about October 1st of each year, so it is grazed down where you can see the deer. $4 is pretty common in NW Oklahoma. We hear about the ranchers that charge the $5-$8 per acre but what happens is the hunters drop out after a year or two and the the ranchers end up with no one to lease the land. That is why we got the $4 land, prior guys dumped the lease, and the rancher wanted a long term group of responsible guys. They know we are not going to trash the place or shoot cattle or anything stupid or leave gates open. So, they charge $4 and have long term leases.

This picture is just a typical buck that I killed, I have killed 3 much bigger than him, just have that picture handy. Anyway that gives you an idea of what land is leased for in the northwestern counties. The land out there must have river access to have many big deer and the closer it is to the Kansas line the better the deer. FWIW
