EDMOND, Okla. -- Edmond police seize hundreds of pounds of drugs, guns and money inside an Edmond home this week. Two men are now behind bars. Edmond police made a surprising discovery while tracking the two suspects wanted for an assault and armed robbery to the home on Silvertree Lane.

"While we were making a sweep of the house, we were knocked over by the odor of marijuana in the house," Edmond police Sgt. Damon Minter said.

The mountain of evidence taken from the home includes 800 pounds of marijuana, 13 guns including assault rifles, as well as $10,000.

It marks a record bust for Edmond.

"It appears to be the second-largest drug seizure ever in Edmond and the largest seizure ever from a residence," Edmond police chief Bob Ricks said.

The home's owner, Dale Jefferson, apparently admitted to police he had been trafficking drugs for quite some time.

"We spoke to him and he admitted he knew his day would come and he thanked us for our professionalism awkwardly," Minter said.

The other man arrested, Shantey Shields, allegedly took part in the related assault, but apparently is not connected to the drug possession.

Neighbors who live nearby say they never saw anything suspicious at the home.

"I think it's unusual nobody would notice anything or have a clue that was going on," neighbor Wiley Risley said.

Edmond police hope showing off this bust sends a simple message.

"The message is, this is not acceptable in Edmond," Ricks said. "If you come here and engage in this activity, chances are you are going to be caught."

Two kids were also living inside the home.

Those kids have now been placed in DHS custody.
