Anything considered a "poison" or "poisoning" anything, animal or plant gets so much negative feedback, warranted or not, that most entities even the USDA will never "approve" its use. Even considering the definition of poisoning, which doesn't even have to be by chemical means, is frowned upon by the majority of the population. Water toxemia for example, simply too much water in the body system, it's real, and it's fatal and actually occurs. Kansas has kept them at bay and even removed entire populations of them successfully without "poisons". Oklahoma could too, but doesn't want to.

2. Something destructive or fatal.
3. A substance that inhibits another substance or a reaction.
