I shoot 55 grain in a 30-06. Remember the old Remington Accelerators? You can still buy the components online to build your own. Sabot'd round. Not the most accurate in 55 grain, but since diameter is the key, I've played with some rounds out to 88 grains. They start to become much more accurate as the weight and length increase.
Sierra used to make 90 grain bullets in .308 diameter that could be the culprit in the OP's pic.
