Carrying a firearm (regardless of type), or any other tool, is not, in and of itself, a hostile or threatening act.

Walk into a police station, Federal courthouse, high school, post office, military post, while open-carrying a rifle, and see how it turns out for you. But you weren't hostile. Remember that.

Idiots who've never employed a long gun for blood or money getting all excited over carrying a gun...and acting like a drunk teenager playing with a titty for the first time.

This fringe is very similar to the LGBT community fringe. They demand equality, they demand everyone accept them as normal, but then they prance around half naked with a dildo on a leash in a public parade.

Sorry, but posing at low ready with your seemingly loaded and crappy SKS in a public restaurant will never be normal to me, anymore than a dildo on a leash will. Save your hero poses for Facebook and your sh$tty apartment.

Please explain to the class how your response to a situation is anyone else's fault instead of yours. You are the one who decides upon your own actions, not someone else.

I already have, multiple times. Must I also explain why if you were to jump off a bridge gravity would do bad, bad things tp you? Hint: it wouldnt be because gravity doesn't like you... :rolleyes2

Carrying a firearm (regardless of type), or any other tool, is not, in and of itself, a hostile or threatening act.

The actions of the person carrying the instrument in question is what determines whether or not there is a threat.

I'm not saying if I think carrying a long gun openly a good idea or not, just that the act itself does not constitute a deadly threat alone.

This more than anything is the issue you seem to be dancing around. Please explain why it is you feel that a person bringing an offensive weapon system into a restaurant, which is far away and outside societal norms even in a very gun-friendly state like the Republic of Texas, is a 'normal' and prudent course of action. Double points for doing so in regards to a long gun that is loaded (or appears so; same/same for an observer), slung at the front and carried at the ready position.

I'm curious as to what far-fetched explanation you could have for how this was a benefit for society as a whole and for the gun culture/second amendment movement specifically.

I don't think that at ANY time in American history, or possibly world history for that matter, it was deemed appropriate to enter a place of business during peacetime with a main battle rifle...whether it be a musket or an AR.

So you would threaten deadly force against someone who is peacefully attempting to enjoy a meal, just because you have already decided you would feel "threatened" by them carrying a gun that is larger than what is usually carried? WTF is wrong with you?

In this situation, YOU would be the one creating a potentially deadly situation, not just for you or the rifle carrier, but for everyone unfortunate enough to be in your establishment.

This type of suggestion is absolutely appalling to me, and I can't see how you could rationally think it might be appropriate.

To be fair, the guys in the picture don't have their guns slinged over their back?

You didn't understand anything I said. Its a private business. The 2nd amendment doesn't apply. The owners opinion does. Why trample on the owners decision to allow guns by blatantly carrying a rifle into a business like this one?

What point does it serve?

That being said, I wouldn't put bloomburg past putting some plants out there to incite a reaction that would further his cause to take our guns away.

Man if they looked less like the people I see at the range or in gunstores I'd be inclined to agree with you.

A very worthwhile read

Here's an excerpt:

"But as it applies to the categories of shooters listed above, none are adequately trained in constitutional law to include the police. They also are not trained in social responsibility and citizenship. This is why a couple of shooting enthusiasts did not consider the social or political impact of their actions and became a major liability to the constitution they claim to want to protect. By doing something as stupid as taking long guns into a restaurant for no reason, they are labeled for what they really are. Right wing agitators. They don't know it but they just gave anti-2A folks like Bloomberg a ton of ammo. They have already come out labeling these two as crazy (they're just stupid and uneducated) and declaring victory (also a lie because Bloomberg wasn't pressuring Chipotle to adopt a no-gun policy. For Chipotle's part, I agree with them. I would have done the same thing because like Chipotle, I'm anti-moron. But then there are a whole bunch of other oxygen thieves on the web whose first reaction was a lot of yelling and screaming for a boycott of Chipotle. Those people are just as bad or worse than the wonder twins because in a "rational" argument or discussion, like a woman, arguing from a point of emotion always makes you look like and idiot. You can't beat a logical sounding position with emotional utterances. It doesn't work. "

Oh, I'd guess that it wasn't all that uncouth on the frontier, but even then there was a difference between carrying a rifle in a ready position and carrying it in a scabbard, slung across your back, or by the fore-end. And that was a very different time and place.
