Shooting yesterday, I came up with a new one and was reminded of an old one.

1. Waiting for the barrel to cool on the T/C in the July heat, I grabbed my little rectangular insulated soft-sided cold drink container/cooler in which I had ice and drinks - unzipped the top flap, and with rifle in lead sled, placed the cooler under the barrel. The top of the cooler came up to just under the barrel - just right. I then replaced the top flap down over the top of the barrel, so that although not completely sealed (could not zip it back up, of course), it largely contained the cool air, and sped up barrel recovery.

2. Was reminded of the value of the self-taught wisdom of "The first thing you do when you pull up to the range, right after inserting ear plugs, is to stick a box of extra staples into your pocket, so that you'll have them when you're downrange and your stapler runs dry".
