I sure am confused. Yall are complaining that your land values have jumped up in price?? I understand if you do not have any land and are looking for some. But it sounds like most of you already have some. So, how is that a bad thing?
Dirt rich and cash poor.

Have you gotten the "we think you're an ATM, so pay up, sucker" letter from the county assessor this year? THAT's why I don't like the land values going up like a rocket--my property taxes keep going up, and their "valuations" are freaking imaginary numbers. Somehow they even managed to jack my assessment when the market was down and there were literally no comparable sales to justify it.

When I moved down to southeast oklahoma for a job, I sold my farm in north central ok and bought a quarter section of timber land for 150 an acre. My farm a few miles from the kansas border in north central OK sold for just over 1900 an acre. That was about 5 years ago. Prices down here have gone totally nuts since they are going to be building a wind farm in latimer county.
They've already screwed up kiamichi mountain with wind turbines.

They doubled the value of my 60 year old house for tax purposes.

I don't get it I guess...what does being from texas have to do with any of it?
Sounds like the same logic most racists use honestly, I'm a replant from California that left because of their libtard ways. Certainly don't take kindly to people using the excuse that they're from out of town as an excuse to bash someone. While that woman's actions were uncalled for I've seen people with OK plates doing the same thing!

More property taxes. I have property that I will not sell in my lifetime, but the taxes keep going up because folks are paying inflated prices for nearby properties.

Edited to add: My point wasn’t meant to bash out of state folks. It really doesn’t have anything to do with the increased property values.

It's been many moons since I took an economics class but I believe what you're talking about is called supply and demand which has nothing to do where the buyers come from. Now the ones that come here and bring their Socialist ideologies and attitude with them? I do have a problem with that and have no problem running them off 🙃

I sure see a lot of Oklahoma tags in Texas south of Fort Worth. I also note a lot of mail I get asking me to sell my 12 acres in Latimer county for 4 times what I paid for it 8 years ago. I moved to Texas years ago from Idaho because I needed to work for my money and though Idaho is beautiful it is hard to pay your bills if you can't find a decent job. A lot of this moving is fueled I think by states run by Democrats being turned into lawless hellholes. Speaking of which Oklahoma city seems to be going downhill fast, why is that? Drugs? Legalizing pot causing it? Or just an out of control drug culture/meth head problem?
